Selling airplanes. Offering an aircraft for sale is very much the owner's business. However, some points can be made which may be of advantage to you, should you want to offer an airplane for sale. First, there's the all-important subject of pricing. What price are you going to ask for your airplane? Before you put your aircraft on offer, it may be a good idea to check the PlaneCheck listing on the model and see what prices other sellers generally ask for their airplanes. This is almost mandatory when offering a C150, C172 or PA28 model of aircraft, which can be found in quite large numbers. For instance, it makes little sense to offer a C172 for $ 70,000, when airplanes with similar airframe/engine time are offered for $ 50,000 or less. Practice shows that 'steeply' priced airplanes achieve fewer internet visits (You can verify this yourself by investigating the 'Vws' column on the righthand side of the airplane listings). With PlaneCheck you have the possibility to use the 'Inquire' option for airplane pricing. This may be a welcome option if your airplane is of uncommon model or without an established market price. Usage of the 'Inquire' feature is however less desirable if the model is plenty available. Generally speaking, if prospective buyers can't directly see a price on your airplane, they are less keen to take it into consideration, unless they really want an aircraft of that specific model. This once again shows by investigation of the numbers of internet visits of airplanes priced as 'Inquire'. Another important factor is the geographic location where your aircraft is based. Make your airplane offer attractive enough for people to take the effort to travel to your country and appreciate the aircraft. Tell whether ferry/shipping costs are included in the price. One of the many PlaneCheck features is the 'Latest Pricing News' on the main page. The reason behind this is that PlaneCheck wants to spread all Good News, consisting of either the addition of a new airplane entry, or a price reduction of 5% or more for an aircraft already present within PlaneCheck. In either case, the concerning aircraft will be shown on the main page, together with its (old and new) price. This is a way of rewarding airplane sellers for making price reductions, which will put their airplane in the spotlight again. Only up-to-date advertisements hold any value for their visitors. If you offer an airplane within PlaneCheck, you are kindly requested to review its contents now and then. Please remove the advertisement if you have sold the airplane, or if you have withdrawn your aircraft from the market. Add an airplane.
